After an hour with the vacuum, I managed to get most of the dog hair out, but the stench remains. So glad I have a first date tonight.

Indeed. I have some Biocide, just no time to use it before the date.

When is the date? Get out there and clean that car!

This seems like the perfect opportunity to get a puppy.

If I were you, I’d send a text beforehand like “hey are you allergic to dogs? just vacuuming out car, looks like the last owner had a dog” or something
That way, you can avoid a terrible allergic reaction and then your date will get the hint that any lingering smell is not from you.
Also, good luck and have fun!

Ozium, a few hours before the date.

The date is tonight. Biocide takes 4 hours to work, plus a couple of days of cruising around with the windows open to clear the chlorine smell.

Or the perfect reason to never get a puppy.
(I like dogs, but I don’t want one.)

Toss a couple Bounce fabric softener sheets under the seats.

We’ve had good luck with Kid and Pets Odor Remover. Available at Walmart. Spray on at lunch and it will be dry by the time you pick up your date. With two dogs and two kids, we should have bought stock in this stuff.

Replace the cabin air filter, then get a black ice tree.
Bitches love black ice.
On a more serious note, it cleansed my car of smoker smell.

Clean the entire interior with Tuff-Stuff multi-purpose foam cleaner works well too. Tuff Stuff does a great job on carpet, cloth or vinyl and has a clean smell. It did wonders on removing locker-room type odor from an Audi we bought that had been owned by a college football lineman. I’d say it was pretty close to smelling like a dog. I’ve used it on another cars cloth seats , dried quickly with a towel and vacuumed again. Is was dry enough to sit on in an hour.

Hogwash
I use this stuff, it’s the only thing I have ever used that works. If it touches the affected area it will kill the odor.
Best to clean as best as possible first, an extractor is the best bet for cloth seats and carpet. Use a damp towel for the headliner. Scrub every inch of the vinyl and plastic with a 50/50 mix of simple green and water. Then spray every inch you can get to of the seats, headliner and carpet with the Hogwash. Also, use an aerosol disinfectant like Lysol or Febreeze and spray it under the dash with the hvac recirculation on until it comes out the vents, then turn of the recirculation and do the same from the outside vents under the windshield.
After all that run the heat on high with one window cracked around an inch until everything is dry. If you use an extractor you’ll want to do it immediately after, then do the rest.
For your date tonight, throw some dryer sheets under the seats.

Late to this post, but if you have lingering issues, see if you can source an ozone generator at a local equipment rental or something like. They really work.
